The Family Forge has recently closed its Life Skills Centre in Skelmersdale and is currently undergoing a mission review so as to closer reflect it's charitable objects.

    Although in the interim the Family Forge has launched its Family Aid Pack and is seeking to distribute this widely throughout the English speaking world if possible.

    However, activities continuing at present include the Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme for the under 24's wherby participants engage in 4 activities:

  • Learning a new skill for 3- 6 months such as learning to read, speaking the English language or gaining a higher certificate in English,UK driving theory, gaining practical driving skills etc
  • Undertaking a sport for for 3 - 6 months such as swimming , jogging, boxing or body building
  • Undertaking community service for 3-6 months such as volunteering in local community cafe's litter picking, volunteering in church maintenance and groundswork, treeplanting etc.
  • Undertaking an expedition to involve an overnight camp, map reading and hiking with full kit.

Regular hiking trips are arranged by email.
